The team wanted to replicate and extend this winning recipe in the sequel. In my chat with co-founder Matt Hall, he said the combination of “slapstick humor” and “pure enjoyment” enabled the original game to capture not only the hearts of its players but their attention as well. But most tellingly, the original Crossy Road was addictive to play. Their first game has been downloaded over 150 million times since November 2014, won the Apple Design Awards 2015 and topped charts literally all around the world.
